When I was 7 my dad got the opportunity to go to Aceh to help with reconstruction after the tsunami. Now I have traveled half way around the world. I did this about 2 years ago.

Once we got here he started helping to rebuild the houses and schools and hospitals that were destroyed.

I think it is pretty awesome around here, because the prices are so low. I can buy a small candy bar for 5 cents!

It’s like the old days!

Our road finally got paved too. We can now skate board and scooter on it.

One of our guards actually lets us skitch by holding on to the back of his motorcycle!

My dad says you can not skitch at home in the United States.

What is not so cool about living here is that since every person speaks Indonesian I can not communicate the way I want to. For example, sometimes I want to say to the boys in the neighborhood that I will be back in an hour, but I can’t. It gets really frustrating.

I am trying to learn the Indonesian language but it is really hard.

Well this is where I live now.

I am learning a lot and will never forget it.
